Dr. Maria Cayelli, MD
Dr. Maria Cayelli graduated from Eastern Virginia Medical School in 1995. She did her residency in family medicine at Banner Good Samaritan Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona. There, she was introduced to integrative medicine through her program director. After residency, she practiced full spectrum family medicine until her second child was born.
While Cayelli was on maternity leave, she decided it was time to change the way she practiced medicine. She wanted to spend more time with patients, educating them on how to keep themselves healthy. As she took the time to listen, she heard about many nonconventional therapies her patients were trying without any knowledge of their safety. It became apparent that patients really needed advice on both traditional and nonconventional treatments. Cayelli applied and was accepted as a fellow in integrative medicine at the University of Arizona for the class of 2008.
Currently, Cayelli is working on getting an Integrative Center started at AnMed Health in Anderson, South Carolina. She is active in the community trying to promote optimal health, writing for the local newspaper and giving lectures.
Cayelli lives in Anderson with her husband and three children. She enjoys running, traveling, mission work and spending time with her family.
