Tapping into her passion for the political process, Cara Huddleston received her undergraduate and graduate degrees in police science from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana, in 2001. During her schooling, she took a year to travel abroad, gaining a deeper understanding of other cultures and beliefs.
Huddleston eventually took a position at Ivy Tech Community College in Bloomington, Indiana, as Director of Student Support and Development. Here she served as a college advisor and taught political science for four years. She also founded the first environmental club and served as the group’s college advisor. “I started this group because I wanted to empower young people to be leaders in tackling environmental problems, such as climate change, in order to build a sustainable future for the planet.”
Long hours and a feeling of unbalance led Huddleston to the Associates of Integrative Health program in Bloomington, Indiana, where she focused on eastern and western modalities. “The human body continues to fascinate and inspire me everyday. Massage reunites our mind, body and spirit.” She became a certified massage therapist in 2006.
Huddleston incorporates her respect for herbs, organic gardening and essential oils into her practice as an independent massage therapist in Bloomington, Indiana. “Through massage, I am constantly reminded to stay in the present and appreciate the beauty around us and light within.”
“I chose to write for PureHealthMD because of the amazing people who started it and their commitment to empowering people to be active participants in their own health and healing. I am passionate about teaching folks the importance of sustainability, and that what we buy has a direct impact on our health and the health of our planet.”
